My name is Rob and I'm a Masters Level 5 qualified transformational Life Coach, NLP practitioner and hypnotherapist. I set up Leeds Life Coaching Practice in order to provide coaching services to people looking to create change in their lives. My clients typically feel stuck, don’t know how to get started, or they’ve tried many other ways to achieve their goals and feel it’s time to try something different. This openness to trying something different is in itself a great place to start since trying the same things over and over again and hoping for a different outcome is not the way to create change.
My ACCPH accredited coaching qualifications combined with personal experience in the areas of stress, depression, anxiety, goal setting and wellbeing allow me to empathise fully with my clients’ and design bespoke programs which empower them to achieve their goals, and ultimately live lives of purpose, fulfilment and wellbeing. Empowerment is a massively important element of what I do. What I set out to achieve with my clients is to bring about rapid change to enhance their lives in the short-term, guide them on the path towards achieving their medium to long-term goals, but most importantly to equip them with the skills, thought processes, competencies and lifestyles which will support them throughout the rest of their lives.
I am driven by the belief that our relatively short lives are way too precious to spend in a state of suffering, whether consumed with negative thoughts, anxiety about an imagined future, regrets about the past, or fears and beliefs that prevent us from realising our potential. My personal aim is to leave the world a better place than I found it, and Leeds Life Coaching Practice helps me achieve that by alleviating stress, depression and anxiety, removing obstacles that prevent people from achieving their goals, and helping people create lives of their own design and desire. I firmly believe that if we wish to see change in the world then that change has to begin by taking responsibility for ourselves and our own personal development, so I strive for constant improvement in all aspects of the service I provide and in living out my own personal values.
Before launching Leeds Life Coaching Practice I enjoyed a successful career in the financial services industry, having progressed from a temporary role as a graduate, moving through various management roles, and becoming a member of the senior leadership team with an insurance company. I have seen many people in the corporate world affected by stress, and I understand how the way in which people interpret their circumstances and react to events in their lives usually determines whether they experience positive outcomes or not. Ultimately, responding to change, and creating change in a state of suffering is what led to the founding of Leeds Life Coaching Practice. From 2015 I started developing a slightly different perspective on life, and began to identify what was most important to me. I was engaged and with plans to start a family so I wanted to achieve a balance in my life that would allow me to continue to progress in my career without detriment to my personal life. My fiancée and I were planning our wedding for April 2017, and we were excited to start a family shortly after. I was grateful to be living a life I had always wanted, and I couldn’t wait for the future to happen. During the course of 2016, my fiancée started showing symptoms of depression, which became worse over the course of a few months, and led her to begin a course of medication and therapy. She had been signed off work for two separate spells and had been in crisis on a number of occasions but things appeared to be improving as Christmas 2016 approached. Sadly the truth was very different. One evening a few days after Christmas, we returned home from a family meal and she popped out with the dog for his last walk of the day. When she didn't return home, I went out to look for her, only when I found her she had taken her own life. I called an ambulance and administered CPR, but a short time after paramedics arrived and took over from me, they told me she was gone and there was nothing more they could do. In that moment, I went from having a partner I adored and had a future with, to complete collapse. It felt like the world I knew had disappeared, and in its place was a world of mental and physical anguish. The initial days, weeks and months were the worst period of my life. I was grieving, in a deep depression, with a sense of hopelessness and recurrent suicidal thoughts. I was not taking care of myself physically, and I was ill-equipped to deal with the trauma that I had experienced.
It's this very period of my life, and the journey I have taken since 2016 that gives me a genuine understanding of the skills, habits, techniques, and goal setting practices required to alleviate suffering and bring about positive change. I learnt many lessons about grief, self-care, self-coaching, the psychological benefits of aiming at and making progress towards goals, the sense of fulfilment in helping others, observing one’s own negative thought patterns and setting one’s own mental state each day. I began running two months after my partner passed away in order to raise money for the mental health charity Mind, and by April 2018 I had completed a 10k, two half marathons and the London Marathon, and raised over £10,000 in the process. I had given myself a sense of purpose and meaning, I was contributing to something bigger, I was helping others, I established routine, and I had to take physical care of myself. The very act of running long distances also showed me the power of perseverance, and that I was always capable of more than I thought. I know for a fact that as humans we all have the ability to not just overcome the challenges life throws at us, but to grow as individuals as a result, and to go on to live a life that brings us joy and a sense of fulfilment. Whatever your own personal challenges, it is possible to set clear goals, to design an action plan that supports your wellbeing, that help you develop resourceful thoughts and beliefs, and gives you the practical tools to create massive change way more quickly than you might imagine.
Unlike some coaching services, Leeds Life Coaching Practice does not solely focus upon the future, afterall why should you put off your own happiness until a date in the future when you achieve your goals? We prioritise creating change in the present to give you a solid foundation from which you can start the journey to achieving your medium and long-term goals. We are not about empty inspirational quotes, or the law of attraction which encourages passively thinking about your goals hoping they will be delivered to you. We are about helping you identify where you want to go and why, before mapping out every step you need to take along the way, and most importantly taking action! In order to do this we use a blend of modern psychology, hypnosis, mindfulness, habit change techniques, and lifestyle changes.
The opportunity to coach people through the process of changing their lives, seeing them flourish and move forward with a greater sense of purpose, fulfilment and wellbeing is a hugely rewarding experience. I would love the opportunity work with you, so if you’re seeking change and want a sense of personal power from taking charge of your life then please drop me an enquiry so we can talk about when you can start your journey.
Best wishes,
Rob
