About Leeds Life Coaching Practice

Leeds Life Coaching Practice was founded with the sole aim of helping people in Leeds, West Yorkshire and across the UK who want to take action to change their lives for the better. Our specialism is in working with people suffering with depression, anxiety or stress. We quickly alleviate their symptoms, assess their emotional needs, design a lifestyle which supports optimum mental and physical health, and create an action plan which allows them to advance towards the life goals that provide a sense of purpose, fulfilment and mental wellbeing. We also work with individuals seeking help with addictions, support in the achievement of health, fitness and weight management goals, and people who seek professional guidance in achieving their life goals.


Whatever brings you to our website, chances are there has been some sort of trigger, such as a significant change in circumstances, the desire for an alternative way to reduce depression and anxiety, a period of intense work or personal stress, or a general dissatisfaction with life. The common factor is the need for change. We all want lives that makes us happy, with good relationships, jobs we enjoy, the ability to experience the pleasures in life to the full, and ideally a feeling that we are making progress towards our goals and dreams. Our life coaching offers you the opportunity to take control of your life, beginning with improving your experience of life in the present, before supporting you with an action plan which enables you to advance towards your desired future.


We're here to empower you, to have you develop a clear set of goals and outcomes, to ensure your goals are in alignment with your own values, and to replace any limiting beliefs with ones that support you in achieving your goals.  The 5 most common reasons people invest in life coaching from Leeds Life Coaching Practice are all based upon a desire to create a change in their lives, and although circumstances may differ, there is a great deal of connection between each of them as we explain below.


  • Depression & Anxiety: many people are dissatisfied with the traditional methods of managing depression and anxiety, and want a more empowering approach. An approach that provides strategies which help without the need to relive past trauma or take prescribed medication. We are coaches, not counsellors, so we focus upon the present and the future rather than the past. We believe that traditional methods based on psychoanalysis can cause more harm than good by further embedding traumatic experiences from peoples' pasts by bringing them into the present. Our philosophy is that you cannot get to your desired destination if you spend your time looking in the rear view mirror. Our depression and anxiety programs are desigined with three phases. First, we work to quickly reduce your emotional stress levels by implementing relaxation techniques, healthy lifestyle changes and simple daily habits which dramatically improve mental and physical wellbeing. Second, we help you replace unhelpful thought patterns with more resourceful ones, having you step away from the experience of depression and anxiety in order to objectively observe your own thoughts. We remove limiting beliefs and begin assessing the most significant aspects of your life such as relationships, family, health, career, personal finance and personal development. In doing so, we are able to identify changes necessary in these areas to ensure your emotional needs are met in balance, which is fundamental to lifelong mental and emotional wellbeing. Finally, we create an action plan which supports your ongoing mental wellbeing while you advance towards your short, medium and long-term life goals.


  • Stress Management: many people suffer with the negative effects of stress, either as a result of prolongued work and/or personal life pressures; or due to a sudden significant change in circumstances such as redundancy, relationship breakdown, or financial difficulties. In 2020, 79% of people in the UK say they suffer some form of stress on a regular basis, and the COVID-19 pandemic has subjected people to all sorts of new stressful experiences that as a nation we were unprepared for. Our stress management program is designed to bring about a rapid reduction in stress levels through the use of relaxation techniques, modern psychology, and the implementation of healthy lifestyle changes. Once stress is alleviated, we will begin to assess root causes before developing an action plan for you to create a life in which stress remains alleviated, and your emotional needs are met in balance. Our stress management coaching quickly improves our clients' mental wellbeing, enable them to focus properly, make the right decisions in life, ensure their personal and professional relationships do not come to any harm, and have them return to enjoying their lives while pursuing their goals. You will finish the stress managment program equipped with the skills and techniques to successfully manage any future stress triggers while progressing towards the life of your own design. Stress is very often a precursor to depression and anxiety, so the quicker we can help to reduce stress levels, the better we are able to contribute to improving mental health.


  • Smoking Cessation & Addictions: quite often smoking and other addictions are a way in which people seek to satisfy certain emotional needs, or to avoid facing emotional stresses. Emotional needs might be as simple as a need for a way to relax, to manage stress, or to experience greater confidence and reduced inhibitions. Our smoking cessation and addictions coaching provides a way to quickly remove the neurological patterns created by the addiction and reduce withdrawal symptoms, but we can take this a stage further by working on emotional needs to develop methods by which our clients can satisfy their emotional needs in healthier, constructive ways.


  • Health, Fitness & Weight Management: many people want to achieve a goal weight, achieve a certain level of fitness, or address the types of health problems that can be managed through healthier lifestyles. Our life coaching helps people set out very clear goals, timescales and action plans, supported with diet, nutrition and exercise tips, and changes in beliefs to provide the long term discipline and commitment required for success. Physical health and fitness is an important foundation for individuals to maintain and optimise mental health, whether suffering with depression, anxiety or stress, as well as to support the healthy cognitive functioning and energy levels needed for accomplishment in all areas of life.


  • Goal attainment - many people come to us without an immediate issue to address, but rather for the help to build a more fulfilling, meaningful and happy life. Quite often people have a fairly comfortable life, but it lacks the sense of satisfaction that comes from the pursuit of a goal, or the sense of empowerment that comes from creating a desired future. Our life coaching for goal attainment  focusses upon taking the current situation, identifying and removing limiting beliefs and habits, exploring all options, overcoming obstacles, and then taking decisive action in order to move towards the goal. This involves an external journey (changing the environment around you), and an internal journey (your process of self development).

What our coaching services include

 So what does our work together involve? We've listed below a selection of some of the typical elements included in our breakthrough sessions and longer term coaching programs.

  • Goal assessment / design - you might already have a goal in mind, in which case our work together will focus upon the strategies required to achieve that goal, or you may desire change but without a clear goal or outcome in mind, in which case we'll establish what your underlying beliefs and values are before creating specific goals that align with these.


  • Creating effective, goal-oriented action plans - with a specific goal or goals in mind, we'll create the action plan for you to achieve it, using all available resources to get you to your goal as quickly as possible. This includes the application of various psychological techniques, as well as specific actions you need to take in between sessions.


  • Emotional needs assessments using the Human Givens framework - all humans have a set of emotional needs which are every bit as important as our physical needs if we are to lead a happy, healthy, fulfilled life. We'll review your emotional needs to create a life of balance in which your emotional needs are met.


  • Diet and nutritional support - whether you are looking to manage your weight, tackle depression and anxiety, or maximise your performance at work, attending to your diet and nutrition will help optimise the way your brain and body functions. This is a key element of ensuring you achieve success in the short term, but also for you to be able to maintain this in the long term.


  • Relaxation techniques - it is so important in the modern world we live in to be able to reduce stress levels, and in doing so reduce cortisol levels within the body. From our first session, we will teach you relaxation techniques to help clear your mind, allow you to focus, improve your decision making, reduce stress levels and in doing so protect your long term health and wellbeing.


  • Sleep schedule optimisation - sleep is massively underestimated in terms of how important it is for physical and mental restoration, for learning, and for discharging emotional arousal. That's why we place emphasis on consistent sleep schedules, and optimising your sleep through applying an understanding of your circadian rhythm.


  • NLP techniques to remove limiting beliefs (which might be causing self-sabotaging or counterproductive behaviours), open up new perspectives, identify previously unseen opportunities around you, and embed new resourceful neurological patterns.


  • Hypnosis to change unhelpful thought and behaviour patterns driven by the subconscious mind, and to create a deep sense of calm and relaxation.


The first step towards change is for us to have a free 15 minute consultation call, during which we can discuss any immediate issues affecting you, what your goals are, what is preventing you from achieving your goals, and a brief timeline of how long you've been seeking change. It is also an opportunity for you to decide if we are the right life coaching practice to help you.


If there is any advice we can offer which might help, then we will do so free of charge. If you decide to invest in yourself with one of our programs or sessions, we'll ask you to provide a full timeline of the issue in advance. We'll also ask you to complete some assessment forms ahead of your first session. This is so no time is wasted during our sessions, which could be better spent focussing on creating the change you want.

Our biggest wish as life coaches is to lift your depression and/or anxiety as quickly as possible. We'll consider many factors such as beliefs and values, lifestyle, medication, diet, exercise, career, emotional needs, and interpersonal relationships.


Research now tells us that depression and anxiety are not simply biological disorders. Although this is true in some cases, modern psychology tells us that humans have emotional needs which must be met in order for us to live successful and fulfilled lives. These emotional needs include such things as the need to feel secure, the need for intimacy, the need for meaning and purpose, and the need for achievement. This new understanding of the causes of depression and anxiety is massively empowering. When we identify which of your emotional needs aren't being met, we can find ways to get these needs met, then we can start to ease your symptoms and bring enjoyment of life back to you.

However, our bodies were designed to respond in ‘fight or flight’ mode as a reaction to immediate physical dangers as a survival mechanism rather than as a reaction to the stresses of modern life, which are often either a slow gradual build up, or sustained over a long period of time.  Over the long term, raised levels of cortisol that result from the ongoing experience of stress can lead to weight gain, fatigue, raised blood pressure, insomnia, difficulty recovering from intense physical exercise and a supressed immune system. In addition, long term stress can lead to chronic fatigue and depression.
